With over 40 Rivers, Creeks and Estuaries in the Burdekin district the options and styles of fishing are endless, undoubtebly

 

the Jewell in the crown is the mighty Burdekin River as this is the lifeblood of the area, its huge catchment and massive

 

recruitment of Barra each year makes this River a prime location to target some of Queenslands East coasts largest

 

Barramundi with fsh over 1m a regular capture in this system, the system also holds good numbers of Big Queenfish and

 

Giant Trevally during the cooler months which adds to the reputation that this area really is the land of the giants when it

 

comes to inshore sportfishing, with large schools of Fingermark and regular catches of the popular but hard to target

 

Tripletail and black Jewfish not far offshore this area has everything for the avid sportsfisherman looking to catch there

 

Trophy size species, All the creeks and esturies have good numbers of Mangrove Jack and blue Salmon, the amazing flats in

 

the area are home to Golden trevally, Queenfish and the much sort after species for fly fishermen such as Permit.
